  From the Wilson County Citizen, May 1992: Shoaf reunion held. On May 24, 1992 the descendants of Sam and Annie (Hemme) Shoaf gathered at "La" Farm, south of Altoona, Kansas for a Hamburger cookout. Forty-eight descendants gathered for the event.
  The oldest to attend was Roy Shoaf, the youngest son of Sam and Ammie, and the last living child of theirs. Roy will be 80 in July.
