  The Rev. Dr. Paul Luther Conrad of Winston-Salem died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the age of 79. Pastor Paul was born to the Rev. Dr. Flavius and Mary Huffman Conrad on April 20, 1931 in High Point, North Carolina. Pastor Paul, a polio survivor of 63 years, served four parishes in the North Carolina Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America: Concordia, China Grove; Prince of Peace, Kinston; St. Paul, Statesville; and Epiphany, Winston-Salem. After his retirement, Pastor Paul served as interim pastor at St. Paul, Statesville; Nazareth, Rural Hall; Concordia, China Grove; and St. Michael, High Point. Pastor Paul was an active member and Pastor Emeritus of Epiphany Lutheran Church. Pastor Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brother, the Rev. Dr. Leslie Conrad. He is survived by his soulmate and loving wife of 54 years, Dr. Katherine (Kay) Oxner Conrad; brother, the Rev. David Conrad; sisters, Dr. Rachel Conrad Wahlburg and Rebekah Conrad Miller; daughters, Tina Conrad Kestner and Laura Conrad Spain; son, the Rev. Jonathan Conrad; sons-in-law, Dr. Michael Kestner and Michael Spain; daughter-in-law, Dr. Kristen King Conrad; and grandchildren, Hannah Katherine Kestner, Joshua Kie Kestner and Rebekah Marie Spain. Julia Jean Romine

  She spent much of her adult life working at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in finanacial planning and later became the head of the Budget Department. She was honored as the Central Indiana Professional Business Woman of the Year in 1983.
  
  Julia was named a women’s field hockey All American while playing on the MacMurray College field hockey team in 1944. She was an enthusiastic basketball fan of the Indiana University and Pacer basketball teams. She was an active participant of D.A.R., a legislative lobbyist for AARP, and a supporter of the Putnam County Community Foundation. She was an avid traveler as long as her health permitted.
  
  Graveside services will be held at the Union Chapel Cemetery at a later date where her ashes will be placed near her parents.

Jim was a life member of the Greencastle Moose Lodge. He was awarded numerous ribbons, including a blue ribbon, at the Putnam County Fair for his great salsa and was awarded Grand champion for his pickles and red beet relish. His parents, and a brother, Bill Clodfelter preceded him in death. Surviving are his children, Jayson Clodfelter and wife Kimberly of Longwood, Florida and Cynthia Towne and husband Bill of Coatesville; three brothers, Keith Clodfelter and wife Peggy of Nashville, TN, Joe Clodfelter and wife Bonnie of Brownsburg, IN and John Clodfelter and wife Connie of Richmond; four sisters, Charlotte Smith and husband, Bud of Greencastle, Carolee Smithers and husband Jim of Peoria, IL, Sandra Elliott and husband Harry of Katy, TX and Judy Rainey of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Mabel Clodfelter of Donelson, TN; four grandchildren, Anthony Clodfelter and wife Michelle of Knoxville, TN, Amanda Clodfelter of Altamonte Springs, FL, Nathan Towne of Coatesville and Corey Towne of Riverside, CA; and two great-granddaughters, Elise Clodfelter and Lauren Clodfelter. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery, with Pastor John O’Neal officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
