Mrs. Bowers has been here for the past few months seeking better health, and we are pained to hear that she has not improved. Mr. and Mrs. Bowers are with Mr. J. E. Goss, father of Mrs. Bowers. The Dispatch, Apr., 1916. An article reads as follows - Mr. Jake L. Bowers, son of Mr. W. H. Bowers of Conrad Hill, died April 14th in the St. Josephine Infirmary, Houston, Texas, after suffering for nearly a year from hardening of the arteries. His remains were brought here Friday and funeral services were conducted from the home of his brother, Mr. John F. Bowers, on Center Street, by Rev. V. Y. Boozer, assisted by Rev. J. M. Senter. The body was laid to rest in the city cemetery, as it was the request of the deceased just before death that all that remained mortal of him might be borne back to his native heath for its last abiding place. Deceased was 38 years old and had twice been married, first to Miss Mary L. Goss, who died in 1906, leaving one daughter, Jessie May. The second wife, who was Miss Annie L. Horton, survives, with one daughter, father, mother, five brothers and two sisters. Mr Bowers was in Houston infirmary for two months previous to his death and while ill received many calls from Texas friends and two uncles, Mr. A. L. Bowers, of Taylor, Texas and Mr. Jake Bowers of Palestine, Texas. Previous to becoming ill, Mr. Bowers had been in the employ of the ? H & H Railway for twenty one years.

Bowers of 620 West Center Street, Willie Bowers of 403 Westover Drive, John Conrad of Happy Hill Road and Casper Conrad of Hill Everhart Road.
