His body was interred in Jun 1909 at Beck's UCC Cemetery at Silver Hill, Davidson County, NC.
Philip J. Hedrick, as told by his great grand-daughter, Mrs. Edith Floyd Regan, 18 Aug., 1968. Philip and Mary home was setup near the For-Mile Branch in what is now Emmons Township, Davidson County, NC, and here they reared a family consisting of four sons and one daughter. The original house which was built largely from logs is still being occupied by a grandson and his family. Philip Hedrick was a very prominent figure in his community. From various letters, military orders, school teacher certificates and other miscellaneous papers which have been preserved, there is evidence of his keen interest in education, government and community affairs. Not only did he serve as a school teacher during the regular school term, which consisted of two months a year, but he also carried the title and performed many duties as a magistrate. Perhaps the most important position which Philip Hedrick exercised was that of being a Captain in the Confederate Army. He held this rank before seeing active duty, which is good evidence of his training and qualifications. Among the records that have been preserved is the following interesting speech. The spelling is the same as that appearing in the original copy. "Small Speech on the Railroad, by Philip Headrick, in 1853. Friends and fellow sitezens, Ladies and Gentlemen of North Carolina. I have got up here before you all to say a few words concerning the Railroad. When we go up to Lexington, we see a great streak where the dirt is dug away and the valleys filled up. What does that mean? This is the place where that great railroad is to be which we have long desired to see. In a few years this road will be accomplished and then we shall hear the iron horse snorting which liveth on wood and fire. And it will be a benafit to North Carolina and the people in it too. Then we can get in the cars and ride down to Raleigh and from Raleigh go to Gaston and from there we can go to Richmond, which is the capital of Virginia, and from Richmond we can go to Fredricksburg and from there to the Potomac River, and then we can sail up to Washington, that great and mighty sity. This will be a railroad that will connect us with most all other states, and then, gentlemen, us farmers will come out. We will have a market for our produce. Now we have to take our little produce to Lexington and trade it to the merchants for half its value, and what we have to buy we have to pay the highest prices." Note: He was a boy, 17 years of age, when this speech was written. It is a good guess that it was delivered in connection with school commencement exercises.
Elizabeth Hedrick. Elizabeth was born 19 May, 1836 at Davidson County, NC (Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.). Elizabeth died 13 Sep., 1902 at Davidson County, NC (Ibid.). Her body was interred in Sep 1902 at Beck's UCC Cemetery at Silver Hill, Davidson County, NC.

His body was interred 18 Nov., 1926 at Beck's Church Cemetery at Silver Hill, Davidson County, NC. Beck's United Church of Christ Cemetery.
He was in the Civil War.

He was a Prominent minister of the Reformed Church and pastor of Beck's Church for 25 years. The following article appeared in the Standard of the Classis of NC following the death of Rev. M. L. Hedrick: This father in the Reformed Church passed to his eternal reward 16 Nov., 1926, at the age of 89 years and 3 days. He was born 13 Nov., 1837, the son of Jacob and Katherine Leonard Hedrick, of Silver Hill, NC, where he made his own home during many years past. He was a direct descendant of the Revolutionary War patriots, Peter Hedrick and Valentine Leonard. He secured his first school training at the Greer school house near his home under the instruction of Abram Cross, Robert Williams, and Albert Workman. In the fall of 1859 he entered Catawba College at Newton, NC. Rev. A. S. Vaughn was president and one of the teachers. Other instructors were Dr. J. C. Clapp and Maj. S. M. Finger. While he was in college he assisted Dr. Clapp in some branches taught by him. He continued his studies in this institution until the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861 when he was drafted into military service. Being an expert mechanic he was assigned to duty in a gun shop at Cedar Hill, Guilford County, NC, where he remained until the spring of 1864. But his thirst for knowledge urged to keep up his studies even while engaged in war service. He had the good fortune to live in the home of Joshua Clapp, an elder in Brick Reformed Church, the father of Dr. J. C. Clapp. He was also near the residence of Rev. G. W. Welker, D.D., pastor of Brick Church; and so during those three years Dr. Welker directed his literary and theological studies. Student Hedrick presented himself to the Classics of NC at the annual meeting in 1864 for examination and licensure. He was licensed to preach the Gospel, though not yet through with his preparation. About the same time he was happily married to Amanda J. Hedrick, and the young couple went to Catawba County where he served four vacant churches for about sixteen months, in the meantime keeping up his studies. Following this period Licentiate Hedrick returned to his home in Davidson County, NC, where he farmed, taught school and studied his books. In 1866 he requested Classis to appoint a committee to have official charge of his studies until he should finish his education. This committee consisted of Rev. G. W. Welker, D.D, Rev. P. A. Long and Elder Valentine Leonard. In 1872 Licentiate Hedrick received a called to the Lower Davidson Charge, NC, and he was ordained and installed pastor the second Sunday in Jan., 1873, at Emanuel church by Revs. Thomas Long, J. C. Denny and J. W. Cecil. This charge he continued to serve until 1887, when he resigned and retired from active pastorate. But since that time Father Hedrick conducted many funerals, preached in churches and school houses and supplied numerous pulpits for other pastors. He also taught public school each winter until only a few years ago. This beloved minister is survived by his aged wife, one son, Mr Charles A. Hedrick, and three daughters, Mrs. Alice Moore, Miss Emma J. Hedrick, and Mrs. Edward Young. There are also 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The deceased was baptisted in infancy by Rev.
