2. Mary Amelia2 Waitman (Jacob1). Mary was born circa 1814. 1814-1815. She married George Leonard on 13 Aug 1835. Mary died in Jun 1851. Her body was interred in Arnold, Davidson County, NC. Beulah United Church of Christ Cemetery, on Arnold Road.
George Leonard. George was born circa 1807 in Davidson County, NC. c.1807-1810. He married Polly Livengood on 24 Feb 1830. Bond states 'Jr.' He married Nancy Everhart on 8 Jun 1855. George died circa 1853 in Davidson County, NC,. 1850-1855, before 2 Apr., 1862. His body was interred after Mar, 1862 in Arnold, Davidson County, NC. Beulah United Church of Christ Cemetery, on Arnold Road.

3. Catherine2 Wateman or Waitman 'Katty' (Jacob1 Waitman). Catherine was born 10 Jan., 1817 in Davidson County, NC. She married Valentine Leonard , Sr. 'Felty' 19 Jun., 1836 in Davidson County, NC,. David Hill was the bondsman. Catherine died 12 Jun., 1883 in Carroll County, VA,. by 'Overflow of Gall.' Her body was interred in Jun 1883 in Cana, Carroll County, VA. Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her common name was Katty.
Valentine Leonard , Sr. 'Felty.' Valentine was born 28 Apr., 1818 in Thomasville, Davidson County, NC. near. Valentine died 16 Aug., 1888 in Carroll County, VA. His body was interred in Aug 1888 in Cana, Carroll County, VA. Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Employment: Farmer.

Moved from Lexington, NC to Carroll County, VA in 1853.

22 DEC., 1854.
He bought his first tract of land in Carroll County, VA from Christian Stockner, and his wife Phebe for $150.00 on 22 Dec., 1854. The land was a 64-acre tract on the waters of Paul's Creek.

16 MAY, 1864.
He enlisted in the Civil War, C.S.A, at Hillsville, VA at the age of 46 years old. He was a Private in Captain Joshua Mabry's Company, Preston Battalion VA Reserves.

Notes, Source: Wade Leonard, - Valentine "Felty" Leonard joined the Confederate States Army at the age of forty six years old. He enlisted for the duration of the war on May 16, 1864 @ Hillsville, Virginia. He was a Private in Captain Joshua Mabry's Company F, 4th Regiment Prestons Battalion, Virginia Reserves. Valentine was active in community affairs, in 1869 he was appointed to manage the estate and transact all Business of Barbary Crotts whose mental condition had been rendered incompetant by the Court of Carroll Co., Va. Order Book 6, page 221. At the court Session held on April 5, 1869, Valentine Leonard was appointed Overseer of the poor in the 5th District of Carroll County to fill a vacancy. In a deed dated December 17, 1869, in Carroll County, Virginia Valentine Leonard, John A. Lindsey, and Carroll B. Jackson conveyed 113 &1/2 acres of land on Snake Creek to John P. Webb for $335.00. This transaction involved the selling of the tract of land upon which the present poor house was then situated, and they were to purchase other, and at some point in said county more suitable for such purpose refere to Carroll Co., Va. Deed Book 10, p. 98. Valentine and Catherine's home was used for the first voting house in the Flower Gap Community and the section in which they lived was known as Leonard's Precinct. Valentine " Felty " Leonard, Sr. and his wife Catherine " Katy " Waiteman grew up in the rual area in Davidson County near Thomasville, North Carolina. Eight years into their marriage Valentine's brother Michael ask him to co-sign a note for a loan. This note is dated July 5, 1844 and was signed by both Michael and Valentine to Azariah Williams. The note is recorded in book #9 page #265 at Davidson Co., N.C.. For some unknown reason the note was not paid for by his brother on the date due so Valentine and Catherine's home and property were sold to make good on the note except for one blind horse and a wagon. Depressed by these circumstances Felty turned to his wife and said Katy lets move away from here. They left Davidson County and moved to the Flower Gap Community of Carroll County, Virginia somewhere around 1853. Valentine served on jury duty May 5, 1853, this is on record in Carroll County. They loaded all their possessions in a wagon as well as their six children which was pulled by the blind horse and moved to Carroll County, Virginia. After arriving in Carroll County they had an additional four children.
