Grandpa loved to tell silly jokes to his grandchildren and enjoyed playing with them. He was a kind hearted man. He told me when he was five years old, he had to go to work to help support the family. He would go to the corner grocery store, load up his wagon and deliver groceries to the people in the neighborhood. He said he made 5 cents a day which he gave to his father. Jeanette was one of the most beautiful women in our family. From the time she was a child she was a sigh to behold. I will never forget the day she was married; she looked like an "angel" walking down the aisle on her father's arm.
"Net" had a wonderful personality and loved good food. Everything she ate she thought it was just "wonderful" and that was quite a compliment as she was a good cook in her own right. She loved helping me with the genealogy and she and Joe would take their time and spend in libraries; court houses and any place else I asked her to go to check out some new lead I had found. She would find some "goodies" and call me and tell me how she and Joe had taken their "tools" and cut through the weeds to go to some abanded cemetery just to see and take a picture of a tombstone for me. I will never forget the day I called her from California and it had been at least 20 years since she had heard my voice. When I told her who it was she just said "oh Lou, I sure love you and have missed you. " She and I became very close and never forgot to tell each other how much we loved each other. She could be funny and kind; honory and loveable. She was quick to laugh and slow to judge. One of the hardest days of my life is when I received the call that she had passed away. . I lost not only a cousin and a friend, but someone that I felt was the sister I never had.
