7. Sophia Elisabetha7 Schweissgut (Laurentius6 Schweissguth, Johannes5 Schweißguth, Johann4, Johann3, Veith2, Gerald1). Sophia was born 19 May, 1747 in Bierstadt, Hesse-Nassau (Germany). She married Johann Heinrich Clement 'Henry' circa 1766 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. Sophia died. Her body was interred Sandy Creek Cemetery in Davidson County, NC. near Tyro.
Around 1780, Sophia and Henry Clement, Margaret and Godfrey Ratz, Johann Adom Schweissguth and Phillip Schweissguth moved to Rowan County, NC. They settled near Tyro Wagon Shops. The four familes recived many land grants.
Johann Heinrich Clement 'Henry.' Johann was born 6 Feb., 1737 in Mittelfischbach, Darmstadt Region, Hesse. now Germany
near Darmstadt, Germany.
Johann died 8 Feb., 1807. His body was interred Sandy Creek Cemetery in Davidson County, NC. near Tyro.

She married Gottfried Ratz 'Godfrey' in PA. Maria died 29 Mar., 1806. 24 Mar., 1806? Her body was interred Sandy Creek Cemetery in Davidson County, NC. near Tyro.

Around 1780, Sophia and Henry Clement, Margaret and Godfrey Ratz, Johann Adom Schweissguth and Phillip Schweissguth moved to Rowan County, NC. They settled near Tyro Wagon Shops. The four familes recived many land grants.

Gottfried Ratz 'Godfrey.' Gottfried was born 22 Apr., 1743. Gottfried died 1 Dec., 1804 in Davidson County, NC,. near Tyro. His body was interred Sandy Creek Cemetery in Davidson County, NC. near Tyro.

9. Johann Adom7 Schweissguth 'Adam' (Laurentius6, Johannes5 Schweißguth, Johann4, Johann3, Veith2, Gerald1). Johann was born 11 Aug., 1752 in York, York County, PA. from gravestone. He was baptized in Christ Evangelical Church, York County, PA, 13 Aug., 1752. Religion. He married 'Catherine' Mary Catheron Beck say 1779. Johann died 11 Oct., 1833 in Davidson County, NC,. 24 Aug., 1833? His body was interred in Davidson County, NC. Sandy Creek Cemetery.
Later he went by the name John Adam Swicegood.

Around 1780, Sophia and Henry Clement, Margaret and Godfrey Ratz, Johann Adom Schweissguth and Phillip Schweissguth moved to Rowan County, NC. They settled near Tyro Wagon Shops. The four familes recived many land grants.

Adam first worked at the Tyro Wagon Works repairing wagons. The Thompson family was the owners of the shop.

At Adam's death he owned 1,050 acres.
Some of his land grants were -
#1134, 25 Oct., 1786 for 200 acres;
#1798, 18 May, 1789 for 320 acres;
#1925, 18 May, 1789 for 500 acres;
#2353, 17 Jul., 1794 for 40 acres.
#1798 was assigned to both Adam Swicegood and his brother-in-law, Godfrey Ratz.

Sandy Creek Cemetery is the original plot for the Swicegood Meeting House congregation. Adam and Catherine Swicegood donated land in 1790 for the original church and cemetery. The Church was moved into Tyro and is now called St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
His common name was Adam.

'Catherine' Mary Catheron Beck. 'Catherine' was born 6 Feb., 1764 in Rowan County, NC. 'Catherine' died 12 Aug., 1852 in Davidson County, NC,. 24 Aug., 1852? Her body was interred in Davidson County, NC. Sandy Creek Cemetery. Her common name was 'Catherine.'
Children of Johann Adom7 Schweissguth 'Adam' and 'Catherine' Mary Catheron Beck were as follows:

10. Phillip7 Schweissguth or Swicegood (Laurentius6, Johannes5 Schweißguth, Johann4, Johann3, Veith2, Gerald1). Phillip was born in 1754 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. He married Eva Sophia Helmstetler circa 1785. Phillip died 7 May, 1798. His body was interred Sandy Creek Lutheran Cemetery in Davidson County, NC. near Tyro.
He moved from PA to the Tyro area of Davidson County, NC.
Swisegood

Around 1780, Sophia and Henry Clement, Margaret and Godfrey Ratz, Johann Adom Schweissguth and Phillip Schweissguth moved to Rowan County, NC. They settled near Tyro Wagon Shops. The four familes recived many land grants.

Phillip worked at the Tyro Wagon Shop.

Phillip served in the York County, PA, Militia under Captain Zolinger circa 1788 to 1790.

Phillip acquired 400 acres in two plots. 200 acres were located in present day Davidson County, NC and 200 acres were in present day Iredell County, NC. At the time both were in Rowan County, NC. On land grant #1404 Phillip paid 50 shillings for 200 acres. He signed his name Phillip Swisegood. The original of this grant is in the possession of Laura Ruth Swicegood, one of Phillip and Eva's descendants, who now lives near the land mentioned in the grant.


Eva Sophia Helmstetler. Eva was born say 1770 in Rowan County, NC. She married John Lewis circa 1799. Eva died 19 Aug., 1821. Her body was interred Sandy Creek Lutheran Cemetery in Davidson County, NC. near Tyro.
Children of Phillip7 Schweissguth or Swicegood and Eva Sophia Helmstetler were as follows:

11. Andreas7 Schweissguth or Sweisgood (Laurentius6, Johannes5 Schweißguth, Johann4, Johann3, Veith2, Gerald1). Andreas was born 9 Feb., 1755 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. He was baptized in Christ Evangelical Church, Paradise Township, York County, PA, 9 Feb., 1755. Religion. He married Sussanna Blocher 18 Sep., 1781 in Lancaster, PA. Andreas died 15 Nov., 1796. His body was interred in PA.
He later went by Andrew Sweisgood.

Andreas and Sussanna Schweissguth attended the Holy Trinity Church in Lancaster, PA the Zion Lutheran Church in Manheim, PA and the Christ Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown, Lancaster County, PA.

Andrew and Sussanna owned 40 acres in Donegal township, Lancaster County, PA (tax records).

He was a farmer.

In the 1788 to 1790 period he served in Captain James Cook's Company, Second Battalon, Lancaster County Militia, PA.

Sussanna Blocher married ? Keller circa 1800. Sussanna died.
Children of Andreas7 Schweissguth or Sweisgood and Sussanna Blocher were as follows:

12. Margaret Catherine7 Schweissgut (Laurentius6 Schweissguth, Johannes5 Schweißguth, Johann4, Johann3, Veith2, Gerald1). Margaret was born on 16 Nov 1761 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. 17 Nov., 1761? She married Michael Spangler on 28 Jun 1781 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. Margaret died on 28 Jun 1813 in York County, PA, at age 51. Her body was interred in Paradise Township, York County, PA.
Michael Spangler. Michael was born on 13 Oct 1758 in York, York County, PA. Michael died on 2 May 1834 at age 75. His body was interred in Paradise Township, York County, PA. Michael was in the 2nd Company, 3rd Battalion, York County Militia, PA, in the Revolutionary War.

In 1791 Michael had 192 acres of land in Paradise township, PA.

Children of Margaret Catherine7 Schweissgut and Michael Spangler were as follows:

13. Elisabeth7 Schweissgut (Laurentius6 Schweissguth, Johannes5 Schweißguth, Johann4, Johann3, Veith2, Gerald1). Elisabeth was born 11 Jun., 1766 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. She was baptized 27 Jul., 1766. Religion. She married Peter Altland , Sr. Elisabeth died 5 Jan., 1843. Her body was interred in Paradise Township, York County, PA. Altland's Meeting House Cemetery.
Peter Altland , Sr. Peter was born 15 Mar., 1767. Peter died 12 Mar., 1852. His body was interred in Paradise Township, York County, PA. Altland's Meeting House Cemetery. Lived in Paradise, PA.
He was a farmer.
In 1852 Peter owned 12 acres with a log house and a barn.

14. Anna Marie7 Schweissgut 'Mary' (Laurentius6 Schweissguth, Johannes5 Schweißguth, Johann4, Johann3, Veith2, Gerald1). Anna was born circa 1768 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. She married John Wagoner or Wagner. Anna died.
