6. Laurentius (Lorentz)6 Schweissguth (Johannes5 Schweißguth, Johann4, Johann3, Veith2, Gerald1). Laurentius was born 10 Feb., 1723/4 in Weisbaden, Hesse-Nassau (Germany). He married Catherine Elisabetha Mayer 16 Aug., 1746 in Weisbaden, Hesse-Nassau (Germany),. Bierstadt, Germany - Bierstadt is now a section of Wiesbaden. He married Elizabeth Saltzgeber in 1761 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. Laurentius died 12 Mar., 1799 in York County, PA. His body was interred.

He was trained to be a stone mason and shoemaker.
Lorentz was admitted as a Burger (adult citizen) at Wiesbaden, Germany on 22 Dec., 1746. In 1746 Wiesbaden was part of Nassau.

Records in Philadelphia showed that he sailed from Rotterdam on the HMS Edinburgh, landing in Philadelphia on 16 Sep., 1751. The book Pennsylvania German Pioneers, page 460, lists Lorentz Schweissguth.
Lorentz, Catherine, Sophia, and Maria arrived on 16 Sep., 1751 in the Port of Philadelphia, PA aboard the English sailing ship Edinburgh. They sailed from Rotterdam, via Cowes, England, to Philadelphia. Lorentz was given the Oath of Abjuration (renouncing former citzenships) on 16 Sep., 1751.
Lorentz left his stone mason tools to his son, Phillip Swissgood.
Lorentz's name appears in the records in Germany as Laurentius and Lorentz. The Church used the Latin Laurentius and the government used the German Lorentz.
Lorentz and Catherina were Evangelican Lutherans. The attended Jacob Lischy's church in York County, PA.
Lorentz settled in Paradise township, York County, PA on the west side of the county. Here he owned 100 acres. Lorentz constructed a stone cottage.
In the tax records for 1762, Lorentz is listed as - Swissgood, Laurence.
In 1769 he is listed as - Schweisguth, Lorentz, with 100 acres.
In 1783 he is listed as - Schweisgut, Lorentz, with 150 acrres.
In 1795 he is listed as - Schweisgood, Lawrence, with 100 acres. Laurentius immigrated, in 1751. Destination.
Catherine Elisabetha Mayer. Catherine was born circa 1726 in Bierstadt, Hesse-Nassau (Germany). Oberalben, RheinPfalz, Germany?
At that time Bierstadt was a small village next to Weisbaden - it is now part of Weisbaden. Catherine died circa 1760 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. Her body was interred. Catherina?

7. i. Sophia Elisabetha7 Schweissgut Sophia was born 19 May, 1747 in Bierstadt, Hesse-Nassau (Germany). She married Johann Heinrich Clement 'Henry' circa 1766 in Paradise Township, York County, PA.

8. ii. Maria Margaretha Elisabetha Schweissgut Maria was born 3 Mar., 1749 in Bierstadt, Hesse-Nassau (Germany). She married Gottfried Ratz 'Godfrey' in PA.

9. iii. Johann Adom Schweissguth 'Adam' Johann was born 11 Aug., 1752 in York, York County, PA. from gravestone. He married 'Catherine' Mary Catheron Beck say 1779.

10. iv. Phillip Schweissguth or Swicegood Phillip was born in 1754 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. He married Eva Sophia Helmstetler circa 1785.

11. v. Andreas Schweissguth or Sweisgood Andreas was born 9 Feb., 1755 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. He married Sussanna Blocher 18 Sep., 1781 in Lancaster, PA.
Elizabeth Saltzgeber. Elizabeth was born say 1726. She married Jacob Heidler say 1746. Elizabeth died after 1800 (Joanne Ellis, Lancaster County SC Cemetery Survey Page 92.).
