Rites Held for Bryan Biggs, 81

Services for Terrell Bryan Biggs, 81, were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Trewitt-Reed Chapel with Rev. Kermit Johnson and Rev. Ray Scones officiating. Biggs was born Sept. 3, 1885 in Erath County and died in the Hico Hospital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. He was the son of Mr. J. D. Biggs and was married to the former Sallie Perkins in 1906. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a retired farmer. In addition to his widow he is survived by two sons, Charles, Fort Worth, and Robert, Stephenville; one daughter, Mrs. B. E. Serrett, Beeville; one brother, J. E. Biggs, Waco; two sisters, Mrs. Wylie DeLevan, Lubbock, and Mrs. Ina Lou Chapman, Tyler; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two children preceded Biggs in death. Interment was in the Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers were Webb Spear, Charles McAfee, Dorsie Secrist, W. C. Mauldin, Leroy Reasoner, and Everett Crain.


Note: Terrell Bryan Biggs was the son of James D. Biggs and Terrell Little "Bunch" Biggs. It is mentioned in the obituary that two sons preceded him in death. These two sons were T. B. Biggs, Jr. and Fredrick Biggs. According to the marker, Terrell Bryan Biggs' death date was February 17, 1967, however, the Texas Death Index has his date of death recorded as February 18, 1967 in Hamilton County, Texas. His date of death according to his wife's obituary, which follows, is also February 18, but the year is given as 1968.

Sarah Biggs, 86, died Thursday in the Stephenville Hospital. Services will be held at 1::30 p.m. in the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kermit Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. She was born July 22, 1890 in Drytown, Ark., and married T. B. Biggs in 1906 in Erath County. He preceded her in death February 18, 1968. She moved to Erath County as an infant and was a member of the Washington Street Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Robert Biggs of Fort Worth and a daughter, Mrs. Jewel Sarrett of Beeville, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

  Finas Dayle Biggs was born May 28, 1908 in Thurber and died September 26, 1932 in the Strawn hospital. Three years ago she was married to Charley Biggs of Gordon, at which place they resided at the time of her death. Besides her husband she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hunt of Liberty and one sister Mrs. Bill Green of Fort Worth, Doyle was converted when a young girl and untied with the Primitive Baptist church of which she was a faithful member until her death. she was known for her kind and sweet disposition and to know her was to love her. The family have the sympathy of a host of friends in this the saddest hour in their life. Funeral services were held at Liberty, twelve miles south of Gordon, at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, conducted by Rev. R. C. Collins of Glen Rose, Interment was in Liberty Cemetery.

  Funeral Services were held Thursday, Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the Gordon Baptist Church Fred Onady Biggs, 45, who died in Lubbock Nov. 2. He was born January 27, 1910 near Morgan Mill and grew up in this area, moving away when he was old enough to work, living in various parts of the state before settling in Lubbock. He became a member of the Baptist Church when he was 16 and served in World War II in the U.S. Army from September, 1943, until September 1945. Mr. Biggs is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Biggs of Gordon; one son, Terrell Bryan Biggs; one sister, Mrs. B. E. Sarrett of Kenedy; two brothers, Charlie J. Biggs of Lubbock and Robert E. Biggs of Gordon; two nephews, Charles Biggs of Lubbock and Bennie Sarrett of Kenedy, and on niece Beverly Biggs, of Lubbock. Interment was made in the Liberty Cemetery under the direction of the Trewitt Funeral Home.

Pyle - Latta

Word comes from Prof. E.J. Pyle that he is principal of a ward school at Mindland and is in charge of about 300 pupils. His wife is also teaching there. Mention was not made at the time in these columns of the marriage of Mr. Pyle and Miss Millard Ray Latta which occurred at Denton about two months ago. Miss Latta was at that place attending the Normal. After the wedding the couple went to Mr. Pyle's home at Cross Plains for awhile and then on to Midland.
These young people are well known and admired in Seymour. The bride made her home here for a number of years, being the niece of Mr. R. E. Bryan. Mr. Pyle was principal of the grade school here last year, and was well liked as a man and as a teacher. The best wishes of all Seymour friends go with the couple. She resided in Baylor County, TX. She resided in 1930 in Brown County, TX.
