2. Matthew2 Powers , Sr. (John1). Matthew was born on 21 Dec 1768 at Marion County, SC. from headstone inscription. He married Olive Regan in 1793 at Robeson County, NC. He married Mary Cain on 16 May 1839. The Fayetteville Observer, Fayetteville, NC, records "May 1839, Matthew Powers of Robeson County, [NC] and Miss Mary Cain of Bladen County, [NC] were married in Bladen County by Robert Lyon, Esquire.". Matthew died on 8 Jun 1858 at Robeson County, NC, at age 89. Date Source: Headstone inscription. His body was interred in 1858 at Tolarsville, Robeson County, NC. in Matthews Powers Cemetery (Broadwell Family Cemetery) near Tolarsville Baptist Church, Big Swamp.
Occupation: Hatter, farmer.

NC Will Book I, Clerk of Court's Office, Robeson County, NC. Pages 39-40. 14 Aug. 1795. Matthew Powers is mentioned in his brother-in-law's, Captain Ralph Regan, Will. Matthew Powers is one of the Executors of Ralph's Will. See Captain Ralph Regan [Record #26].

The 1850 Census of Robeson County, NC records that he came from Marion County, SC.

The house Matthew Powers lived in was near the Great Marsh Baptist Church near St. Pauls, NC. This had belonged to his father John Powers and here were born most of John Powers' children.

His gravestone has a Masonic emblem on it.
Olive Regan. Olive was born on 14 May 1771 at Robeson County, NC. year from headstone inscription. Olive died on 7 Feb 1838 at Tolarsville, Robeson County, NC, at age 66. from headstone inscription. Robeson County, NC? Her body was interred in 1838 at Tolarsville, Robeson County, NC. in Matthews Powers Cemetery (Broadwell Family Cemetery) near Tolarsville Baptist Church, Big Swamp. 14 AUG., 1795. NC Will Book I, Clerk of Court's Office, Robeson County, NC. Pages 39-40. 14 Aug. 1795. Olive Regan (Powers) is mentioned in her father's, Captain Ralph Regan, Will. Olive Regan inherited some land with the amount to be specified at the estate division. See Captain Ralph Regan[Indv. #26].
Children of Matthew2 Powers , Sr. and Olive Regan were as follows:
Mary Cain. Mary was born on 4 May 1790. "1790" from head stone inscription. Mary died on 5 Sep 1855 at age 65. from headstone inscription.

The Fayetteville Observer, Fayetteville, NC, records that on "Sep. 5, 1855 Mrs. Mary Cain Powers died in Robeson County, [NC], aged 65 years and 4 months. She was the daughter of James Cain, Sr., of Bladen County, NC, and the wife of Matthew Powers.". Her body was interred in 1855 at Tolarsville, Robeson County, NC. in Matthews Powers Cemetery (Broadwell Family Cemetery) near Tolarsville Baptist Church, Big Swamp. Mary is mentioned in her father's will. Reference - Sam West.
There were no children of Matthew2 Powers , Sr. and Mary Cain.

3. Mark2 Powers (John1). Mark was born on 27 Mar 1771 at Robeson County, NC. 24 Mar., 1771? He married Ann Nancy circa 1795. He married Mary Brown on 26 Aug 1827 at Feliciana Parish, LA. East. Mark died on 28 Jul 1830 at Springdale, Lafayette County, Miss., at age 59.
Mark left Robeson County, NC and then settled in East Feliciana Parish, LA about the year of 1801.

Information for Mark Powers and his descendants comes from Gordon Powers, his third generation
great-grandson who resides in Stuart, Florida. He resided circa 1801 at East Feliciana Parish, LA.
Ann Nancy. Ann died on 31 Dec 1826.
Children of Mark2 Powers and Ann Nancy were as follows:
Mary Brown. Mary was born circa 1771. Mary died on 18 Jul 1857.
There were no children of Mark2 Powers and Mary Brown.
