Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife of 72 years, Naomi Swicegood Leonard; two sons, Gary Leonard and wife Pat of Oriental, NC and Ronald Leonard and wife Lynne of Lexington; daughter-in-law; Becky C. Mr. Koontz was born May 26, 1919, in Davidson County, to John Washington Koontz and Fallie Foster Koontz. He was a member of Reeds Baptist Church; former Reeds Volunteer Fireman; and retired from Dixie Furniture. After his retirement he and his wife, Susan, moved to Southport where they made their home for nineteen and a half years, before moving back to Lexington to be closer to their family. While living in Southport he was a member of the 55 and over club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Paul Koontz; grandson, Thomas Glenn; brothers, Thurman, Terry, and Roy Koontz,; and sisters, Mary Louise Ward, Vettus Myers and Beulah Kepley.
