       C. W. Shoaf first appeared on the tax roll of Ft. Bend County, TX in 1897 when he was taxed for livestock. The tax rolls indicate that he did not own land until 1910 when he was taxed for 50 acres west of Needville on Snake Creek. At the time of his death the family was living at a place west of Needville but nearer to town. He resided at Ft. Bend County, TX.

30. Mary Catherine⁴ Shoaf (Johan?³, Susannah² Hinkle, Casper¹). Mary was born on 6 Sep 1874 at Davidson County, NC. She married Shuman Everhart on 26 Nov 1891. Mary died Date Source: Gravestone. 17 Jan., 1917, of pneumonia, according to her death certificate on 2 Feb 1917 at age 42. Her body was interred at Midway Methodist Church Cemetery at Davidson County, NC.
Obituary: Mrs. Mary E. Everhart was born Sep. 6, 1874; died Jan. 17, 1917; aged 42 years, 4 months and 11 days. She was married to Shuman Everhart Nov. 26, 1891. There were born to this union 10 children' two of whom with the husband preceded her in death. Deceased united with Midway M. E. Church early in life and continued a faithful Christian until death. Among her last words were: "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, and now the battle is almost over." Funeral services were conducted last Fri. morning from Midway Church by Dr. J. C. Leonard and the body was buried in the adjacent cemetery. The sympathy and prayers of many good people go out to and in behalf of the orphan children left behind.
Shuman Everhart. Shuman was born Twin on 24 Feb 1864. Shuman died From typhoid fever on 28 Jul 1915 at age 51. He was buried at Davidson County, NC (Midway Methodist Church Cemetery). Obituary: Shuman Everhart was born Feb. 24, 1864: died July 28, 1915: aged 51 years and 5 months. Mr. Everhart spent his life on his farm in Midway township where he was highly regarded by his friends and neighbors. Typhoid fever laid its rough hand upon him about four weeks ago, and this terrible disease was the cause of his death. The funeral was held from Midway M. E. Church last Thursday morning and was conducted by Dr. J. C. Leonard. Mr. Everhart was a member of the Enterprise Council Jr. O. U. A. M. and the honors of this fraternity were accorded at his funeral. He leaves a widow and eight children together with his aged father and for brothers. He lived in 1900 at Midway, Davidson County, NC (1900 Census, listed as Sherman Everhart).
