1830. The 1830 Davidson County, NC Census records two males in the age brackets of Valentine and young Jacob in #214 household which were 1 male under 5 years and 1 male between 20 and 30 years. Petition for Widow's Dower in Nov., 1834. On 14 Feb., 1835 she petitioned the Davidson County, NC Court Pleas and Quarter Session for a year's provisions. In Feb., 1835 she also petitioned for a Writ of Dower partitioning the real property of deceased husband Michael Koonts so as to gain her widow's dower rights in the property since he died interstate. In Aug., 1835 a Writ of Dower was issued and the property of Michael Koonts, deceased was divided among the seven surviving children of Michael and his first wife and the widow, Mary Koonts. The Writ reads as follows: State of No. Carolina, Davidson County, Court Pleas and Quarter Sessions, Feb. 1835. Mary Koonts vs David Koonts, Guardian of Michael, Henry, Jacob Koonts; David Koonts, George Koonts, Pegay Koonts, and Alex. Gubb [Grubb] and his wife Susana. Your Petitioner shows to your Worships that her husband Michael Koonts late of the County of Davidson, died leaving your petitioner, his relick and widow, seized and possesed of a tract of land adjoining lands of John Koonts, Christian Livengood, and others containing by estimation two hundred and sixty acres --- situate and being in the County afoursaid. Your petitioner prays your Worships that a writ issue to the Sheriff of said County commanding him to summon a jury of good and lawful men, unconnected with the parties by consanquinity or affinity to layoff and allot to your petitioner her dower in said tract of land and put her in possession thereof - and report to this Court what they shall do in the pemises - and that your Worships grant your petitioner such other relief as her case requires and duty bound. J. A. Hogan. 1850. In the 1850 IA Census, the 1856 IA Census, and the 1860 Census, she was living in the household of her younger son Jacob A. Long in Monroe County, IA. Died after 1860 Monroe County, IA Census and before 1867.
