FAYETTEVILLE - Harry A. Cain, of 110 Pompton Drive, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born May 29, 1929, in Bladen County to the late Julius and Bernice Melvin Cain. Mr. Cain was a graduate of White Oak School, class of 1947. A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Cain retired in 1984 from the U.S. Army Civil Service at Fort Bragg after 33 years of service. After retirement, he ran his own small business and spent his free time involved with his family, church and fishing. Mr. Cain was a member of Creasy Proctor Lodge No. 679 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Fayetteville. Mr. Cain was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Fayetteville, where he was ordained as a deacon and sang in the choir. For 51 years, he gladly served in numerous other capacities at Grace, a true pillar of the congregation. His was a life diligently spent in devotion to Christ, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Iskey Hall Cain of the home; his children, Andy Cain and his wife, Sissy, of Fayetteville and Larry Cain and his wife, Tracy, of Charlotte. Also surviving are his much loved grandchildren, Dylan and Brandy Cain of Fayetteville, Jeffrey Gower of Clayton and Marissa and Jillian Cain of Charlotte; sisters, Pat Coble and her husband, David, of Whiteville and Jean Townsend and her husband, John, of Wallace; a brother, Gilbert Cain of Ammon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Christine Turner and Ann Smith; and also a brother, Arthur Cain. The family wishes to express our extreme gratitude to all the friends and family who have provided their overwhelming support and love during this time of grief and sorrow. We love you dearly and are honored to have you in our lives. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, in Grace Baptist Church, 3901 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, followed by a burial in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 tonight, Nov. 5, 2008, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. FAYETTEVILLE - Iskey Hall Cain, of 110 Pompton Drive, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. She was born June 15, 1933, in Sampson County, to the late Harvey Pritchard and Mary Jane Naylor Hall. Mrs. Cain was a graduate of Roseboro High School, Class of 1951. She was employed by First Citizens Bank in Fayetteville and Rhudy's Inc., where she retired as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Cain was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Fayetteville where she lovingly served in many capacities for 52 years. Iskey is survived by her children, Andy Cain and his wife, Sissy, of Fayetteville, and Larry Cain and his wife, Tracy, of Charlotte. Also surviving are her much beloved grandchildren, Dylan and Brandy Cain of Fayetteville, Jeffrey Gower of Clayton, and Marissa and Jillian Cain of Charlotte; sisters Louise Horne of Fayetteville and Mary "Pete" Faircloth of Autryville; brothers, James Hall of Fayetteville and Allen Hall of Wake Forest; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Harry; sisters, Marie Faircloth, Wilma Faircloth and Edna Hall; and brother, Walter "Tug" Hall. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind expressions of sympathy. Our thanks and eternal gratitude also go out to the doctors and nurses in the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit at UNC Hospitals who treated our mother with the utmost care and dignity during her sudden but brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in Grace Baptist Church, 3901 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, followed by burial in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. Jane Cain Miller, 65, died unexpectedly early Friday morning at her home.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2011 in Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 - 2 p.m. Monday.
Born in New Hanover County, Jane spent her childhood in Wallace. She was born July 20, 1946, the daughter of the late Marshall and Mary Margaret Benton Cain. She retired from the Office of the State Comptroller after 30 years service and was awarded the State's highest civilian honor, The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, by Governor James B. Hunt, Jr.
Jane is survived by her husband, Doug Miller of Raleigh; son, Christopher Collins of Garner, step daughter, Traci Dusenbury and grandchildren, Haley and Conner, and her brother, Marshall Cain and his wife Sandy, all of Richmond.
